Food For Thought - Wedding Cakes

The tradition of a Wedding Cake dates back to the Roman Times when they used dried fruits, nuts and honey to make small bun type cakes and piled them high to make like a pyramid. Today you can make up a pyramid too using small individually iced cakes placed on a special stand and each guest has their own individual cake.

The more traditional cake is made up of three tiers. The three tiers represent the three rings of marriage, the top tier is the engagement ring / the middle tier is the wedding ring / and the bottom tier is the eternity ring.

We at Food for Thought Caterers offer a complete bespoke service, or we have over 40 dummy cakes on display, over 700 photographs to show you and you can watch cakes being decorated in our studio.

We offer traditional, modern, contemporary, art nouveau and novelty designs.



All our bases are individually made. The cake has to mature naturally, firstly by letting them stand and settle for 3/4 weeks before starting a process of 'feeding' them with real liquor, all this over several stages takes around four months to complete to our satisfaction. WE ALSO OFFER A CHOICE OF OTHER BASES A variety of sponge cakes; Victoria Lemon Banana Chocolate Chocolate Fudge Carrot Again all these are made in the old fashioned way and filled with jam & buttercream etc. You can mix and match any of the above to achieve the perfect cake for you.

		The design of your wedding cake is a very personal thing. The only way to choose is to visit our showroom and discuss all the possibilities.
